Rare 70s Michael and Frances Higgins Signed Owl Tabletop Sculpture
Michael & Frances Higgins were best known for their iconic glasswork; their beautiful art glass was sold in fine stores in the 1950s and by 1951 they were featured in the Chicago Art Institute’s “Designer Craftsman Exhibit” and the “Good Design Show” presented at the Chicago Merchandise Mart. This particular sculpture is highly detailed and a fantastic example of mixed metals, blending steel, copper, and brass as well as the patinas and finishes applied to the metals. It is signed Higgins on one of the leaves, and would be an amazing addition to a Higgins collector or for a fan of Brutalist art and decor!
